Empowering Futures: Felician University and Xavier University School of Medicine Announce Affiliation
RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician University and Xavier University School of Medicine proudly announce a new affiliation which will offer eligible Felician students a direct pathway to the Xavier University School of Medicine’s Doctor of Medicine program upon graduation.
This ground-breaking agreement gives Felician University graduates who meet Xavier’s prerequisites seamless access to Xavier’s admissions process. Qualified Felician pre-med students may begin their journey in any of Xavier’s three terms – January, May, or September – upon fulfilling all graduation requirements of Felician and meeting Xavier’s admission criteria.
Felician University’s philosophy of education is to imbue in our students the Franciscan core values – respect for human dignity, compassion, solidarity with people in need, transformation, and peace and justice – while helping them in every way possible to achieve their career goals. “Our dedicated faculty recently added state of the art STEM Labs, and our support staff provide our students with a great education,” said Dr. Jose Montalvo, Professor and Pre-Med Advisor at Felician University. “However,” he continued, “acceptance into medical schools continues to be a challenge for our underserved community students and we are happy to provide our Felician University students with an opportunity, through this articulation with Xavier University School of Medicine, to enter medical school and achieve their goal of becoming a physician.”
Ravishankar Bhooplapur, President of Xavier University Aruba, expressed great pleasure at the prospect of working with Felician University, Sr. Honorata Grzeszczuk, PhD, acting Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences, Dr. Jose Montalvo, and the students and faculty at Felician to bring this new opportunity to fruition. “This partnership will provide Felician students a direct pathway to medical school and allow them an opportunity to reach their goal of becoming a doctor”, said Bhooplapur.
Moreover, Felician students admitted to the program are automatically considered for the Dean’s scholarship which is one of fifteen scholarships and grants available. Additionally, they may qualify for further scholarships based on specific criteria.
