Director of Development

Felician University is seeking an energetic, innovative, and goal-driven advancement professional with proven fundraising skills and management experience to serve as Director of Development. The Director supports the financial goals of the University by identifying potential major gift donors; developing and implementing appropriate management tactics for soliciting and stewarding individual leadership prospects; identifying and engaging regional development markets in collaboration with the Vice President of University Advancement; initiating first donor contact for the President, Vice President of University Advancement, deans, faculty and other administrators; maintaining development travel schedules; coordinating cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship with University Advancement; and initiating development of a major gifts pipeline to build a qualified prospect base for the University.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Five to seven years’ experience and proven success in annual, major and planned gift fundraising, preferably in higher education; goal-oriented, resourceful and pro-active in building external relationships, initiating donor visits, and conducting fundraising calls; proven ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex and changing environment; professional and engaging demeanor, well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work sensitively and effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; exceptional writing and editing proficiencies; skilled in budget and forecast preparation; superior supervisory, analytical, and planning skills; demonstrated ability to foster a positive and cooperative work environment; ability to work both independently, as well as collaboratively, in a goal-oriented team environment; comprehensive experience in analyzing detailed data and communicating results; demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment and integrity in managing confidential information; flexibility and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed; willingness and ability to travel to meet with donors and prospects as necessary. experience with Raiser’s Edge required.
