FAQs

What is the cost of the program?

The cost of the program is $3200 for the 3 weeks.  This includes tuition, on-campus housing, on-campus meals, linens, maid service, and all costs related to included activities.

Does the tuition include airfare?

No, students will need to purchase their own airfare.

What airport should I fly into?

The closest airport is Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR.)  It is located approximately 20 minutes from our Rutherford campus.  Airport pickups from EWR are included in the price of the program.

Students can also choose to fly into John F. Kennedy airport (JFK) or LaGuardia Airport (LGA.)  Airport pickups can be arranged by Felician College from these airports, but at an additional cost of $160 per passenger.

Will I have to purchase books?

No, most resources will be provided through online publications and packets.

Is health insurance required?

Yes.  All students will be required to purchase health insurance if they do not show proof of an acceptable U.S. health insurance.  Proof of health insurance coverage is due by June 15.  For international students, the health insurance policy must include appropriate coverage for Repatriation and Medical Evacuation to be acceptable.

The cost of our health insurance plan is $60.

For more information about our health insurance coverage, please click here.

Will I get credit for college?

Yes. After completion of the program, you will earn 3 college credits.  Grades will be pass/fail.  You will be able to apply this credit towards a degree here at Felician or at another U.S. college.  The course will generally be counted towards general education credits.

How much spending money should I bring?

On the days when we are off campus, meals can range from $10-$20 depending on what you purchase.  This would be for the trip to Six Flags, Philadelphia and other days you are off campus during a meal.  For souvenirs, this is a personal choice but we suggest approximately $100 depending on what you plan on buying.  For shopping at the outlets, students usually spend at least $150 on clothing and other items.  In total, the suggested amount of money for the 3 week program for use during the trip is at least $500 US.

While bringing some cash is recommended, we do not recommend bringing all of your spending money in cash.  If possible, load up your spending money on a VISA gift card before coming to the USA.  Travelers cheques are not accepted everywhere so they may not be the best option either

Where is Felician College?

Felician College is located in Lodi and Rutherford, New Jersey.  The Global Citizenship Institute will be solely located on the Rutherford campus.  The campus is located approximately 16 kilometers from New York City.  We are also in walking distance to downtown Rutherford, which offers many great restaurants, shops, and a movie theater.

Can I have a single room?

No, all GCI participants will be housed with one another in a double room in Elliot Terrace.  The rooms are suite style based on gender, with approximately 3 rooms (6 students) sharing a common space and a bathroom.

Will there be other students on campus?

Yes, Felician will be hosting various programs over the summer and there will many other students from all over the world living on campus.

What will the weather be like?

Hot and humid.  Temperatures are generally around 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius) during the month of July.  Shorts and t-shirts are fine to wear.  All classrooms and residence halls are air conditioned.

Is there security on campus?

Yes, there is 24 hour security on our campus.  There will also be a Resident Hall Assistant along with chaperones to ensure the security of each student.  All scheduled off-campus trips will be chaperoned.

Is there WIFI available?

Yes, all classrooms and dormitories are WIFI enabled.
