Felician Radio to Air Memories of JFK Assassination

Where were you when President Kennedy was shot? That was the question posed to Felician College staff and faculty, who were interviewed for a special show, “Felician College Remembers John Fitzgerald Kennedy,” that will be broadcast on WRFC, the college radio station.

Professor Terry McAteer, chairperson of the Communications Department, said the idea for the show came about as the country and the world prepares to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the tragic event on November 22.

“The students and I discussed it and thought it would be a great topic,” said McAteer. “What they know about that day is mostly what they’ve learned in history books. By talking to people who experienced it, they gained a very different perspective.”

About a dozen students visited staff and faculty members who volunteered to be interviewed about their personal memories of the day John F. Kennedy was shot and killed as he rode a motorcade through the streets of Dallas. The students and Professor McAteer sorted through all the tapes and put together a two-hour show that will begin airing on Monday, November 18 at 8 p.m. and twice a day from after that through December 1. The show will air four times on Nov. 22, the anniversary date.
