Felician Celebrates Excellence in Student Teaching
The Felician College School of Education held its annual Candlelight Service to celebrate its student teachers and to induct its newest members to the Alpha Zeta Rho Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), the national honor society of outstanding education professionals.
The ceremony was held May 3 in the John J. Breslin Theater in Obal Hall on Felician College’s Lodi campus.
Dr. Rose Rudnitski, Dean of the School of Education, offered welcome remarks before the ceremony, which included installation of KDP officers, presentation of year-end awards, several liturgical readings and candle lighting, symbolizing the passing of knowledge from faculty to graduating students to those who will begin student teaching in the fall of 2013. This year’s ceremony feted 22 student teachers who graduated on May 19, and 42 students who will begin their student teaching in September. Twenty-two students were named to KDP.
Felician College President Dr. Anne Prisco recalled her own experience as a student teacher and congratulated all in attendance. “Being a teacher is all about making a difference in the life of a child,” said Dr. Prisco. “Felician is proud of all of you for your accomplishments and we are confident that you will be that difference in the future.”
