Chat with a Librarian

Can't make it to the library, but want real-time help? Use the "Ask Us!" box on the Library’s home page! Or send an instant message (IM) to FelicianLibrary under AIM, gtalk, or Yahoo! and a Felician University librarian will assist you. If you would like assistance signing up for one of these IM services, please contact us.

During the regular school year, the Felician University Library offers chat reference services Mondays - Thursdays, 9:30 am - 10:00 pm.  Please note that chat reference service will not be available when the Library is closed. Hours may also change during the summer and between semesters.

E-mail a Librarian

Need help with doing research, but the Library is closed? Send an e-mail to our Reference Librarian, Elisabeth Gatlin. For other inquiries, please e-mail us or consult the Library Staff Directory.

Computers & Wifi

The Felician University Library has 8 desktop computers in the Information Commons area, 2 computers in the Reading Room, and 2 computer classrooms in the basement.

The Library also offers Wi-fi (i.e., wireless Internet connection)! Patrons are encouraged to bring their laptops to the Library.

Off-Campus Access

In order to access the Online Resources subscribed to by the Felician University Library, you must know your University Network ID and password. These are the same as the username and password used to access your Felician University e-mail.

Upon clicking on one of the hyperlinks on the Library Web site’s Online Resources page, you will be prompted to use this information to log in through the EZproxy server. As long as you do not close that particular Internet browser, you will be able to use all Library Online Resources without having to log in again.

If you do not remember your university Network ID and password, please contact HelpStar, the IT department’s help desk support system, by calling 201-559-6165 or sending an e-mail to the I.T. Help Desk

Renew Library Materials

Reserve materials are not renewable. For all other library materials, patrons are allowed to renew up to TWO times as long as the items are not requested by other patrons.

However, please keep in mind that patrons are limited to renewing materials only until the end of the current semester. If you wish to renew into the next mester, you must bring the actual items to the Circulation Desk before the end of the current semester.

Under normal circumstances, patrons may renew library materials in a variety of ways:

  • Visit the Library: Circulation Desk
  • Call the Library: 201-559-6071
  • E-mail the Library
  • Online Catalog: Click on “My Account” at the top, click on “Renew My Materials,” then login in with your Library barcode and 4-digit PIN

Interlibrary Loan

If the Felician University Library does not own or subscribe to the book or article that you need, we try to borrow it from another library.  Patrons are asked to complete an interlibrary loan (ILL) form, available both online as well as at the Circulation Desk, to request such materials: ILL Request Form.

ILL materials take an average of two weeks to arrive. The Library will call you to let you know when your requested item is available for you to pick up. If your request is filled electronically, we will send it to you as an e-mail attachment instead.

Please note that you are responsible for the timely return of all ILL materials. Fines for overdue ILL materials are 10 cents per calendar day and may result in the loss of ILL privileges, holding of grades and transcripts, and possible disciplinary action by the University. Please see our Policies page for more information.

Access to Other New Jersey Libraries

The Felician University Library is a member of the VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Program.  This allows current faculty and students to visit and borrow books directly from many of the college and university libraries in New Jersey. In order to participate in this program, faculty and students must bring their current university ID to the Felician University Library's circulation desk and complete a form for each library from which they would like to borrow. Please note that any items borrowed through this program must be returned to the library from which they were borrowed.

Current students of Felician University may visit any public college or university library in New Jersey as long as they show their university ID card. Please note that access to these libraries does not include borrowing privileges or services that are limited to students and faculty of the host institution.
