IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT PRISCO
Dear Felician community:
This is an update regarding Felician College’s status in advance of Hurricane Sandy.
We have already cancelled classes and will close our administrative offices on Monday and Tuesday, and will keep you apprised as the storm progresses throughout the coming days.
The closures will take effect on both the Lodi and Rutherford campuses.
Facilities personnel and administration began on Friday taking steps to prepare both campuses in the event of flooding and/or a power failure. For instance, back-up generators were tested to ensure there would be safe lighting in the dorms on the Rutherford campus. We are working in conjunction with local municipalities and the power companies regarding street closures and electrical services. Safety is our top priority.
Residence life and security personnel will be on campus for those students who are staying on the property and will be available 24/7 to answer questions and address any concerns. Also, food services staff has purchased extra cases of water and non-perishable food items, and student affairs personnel have gone on “food runs” to make sure that those who remain on campus have the essentials. We will also keep a very close watch on the Saddle River which runs along the Lodi campus.
Faculty, staff and students have been notified via the electronic monitoring system on Saturday evening of the closings, and we will do everything possible to keep everyone informed as needed.
Updates also will be posted on the College’s website as necessary. The College's main phone number (201-559-6000) will also have updated information.
We are hoping and praying that things will be okay, but rest assured that we are taking every precaution to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff. We are taking the storm forecasts very seriously and will continue to monitor the situation.
Please everyone be safe.
Peace and all good,
Dr. Anne Prisco
President, Felician College
