Felician to host Mathematics Association conference

Felician College is this year’s host for the Mathematical Association of America–New Jersey (MAA-NJ) spring meeting and annual conference for undergraduate mathematics students.  The event will be held on Saturday, April 13 on the College’s Lodi campus, 262 South Main Street.

The student conference, now in its 10th year, will include a team and individual mathematics competition, student poster sessions, and talks by student presenters. Felician College students will participate along with students from across the Garden State.

Keynote speakers are Dr. Robert Bell, AT&T Labs Research, who will discuss “Lessons from the $1,000,000 Netflix Prize”; Dr. Ravi Vakil, professor of mathematics at Stanford University, who will discuss “The Mathematics of Doodling”; and Dr. Jennifer Quinn, of the University of Washington-Tacoma, who address is entitled “Mathematics to DIE for: The Battle Between Counting and Matching.”
