Cross-Country Standout Earns Prestigious Honor
Felician College senior Rob Albano has been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's Cross-Country/Track & Field Team for District 1 in NCAA Division II, as coordinated and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Albano becomes the first student-athlete in Felician history to make the CoSIDA Academic All-District team three times. He will move on to represent the Golden Falcons on the Division II Capital One Academic All-America® ballot. Albano was a Third-Team Academic All-American in 2012.
Albano is the seventh Golden Falcon student-athlete to be named to an Academic All-District team in the 2012-13 school year, one shy of last year's college record. Click here for a list of all Felician student-athletes to be so honored.
In the 2012 cross-country season, Albano won all four regular-season races that he finished. He then captured his second consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Runner of the Year award by finishing first in the league championship meet on Oct. 21 in Philadelphia. Albano capped his career with a seventh-place result at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship.
A 2009 graduate of Pequannock Township High, Albano owns the five fastest 8,000-meter times in Felician history. He is the CACC's only male two-time Runner of the Year, and the first Felician runner to earn all-region honors twice. He also owns a 3.76 grade-point average while majoring in elementary education.
