School of Nursing Celebrates Second Induction Ceremony for Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society

RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician University School of Nursing held its second Induction Ceremony for the Alpha Beta Chi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society on April 11 in the Goya Dining Hall on the Lodi campus. The Alpha Beta Chi Chapter welcomed 54 new members during the ceremony.

Sigma is a world-wide body of nurses, dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, teaching, learning, and service through the cultivation of communities of practice, education, and research. The specific mission of the Alpha Beta Chi Chapter is to help develop outstanding leaders in the nursing profession exclusively through Felician University’s School of Nursing and its wider healthcare community.

Opening remarks were given by Dr. Daria Waszak, Associate Dean in the Department of Graduate Nursing, followed by a reflection from Sister Patricia Kennedy, CSSF, Chaplain for the School of Nursing. The event’s keynote address was delivered by Dr. Marcel Kaganovskaya, Assistant Professor for the Department of Graduate Nursing at Felician University, who emphasized the importance of being engaged in professional organizations. “I highly recommend everybody participate in an organizational activity as you move on in your profession,” Dr. Kaganovskaya stressed. “It’s so important because you’re going to learn from the experience and share it with those around you. We’re always working as a collaborative team.”

Among the induction ceremony attendees were Eric Wignall, MSN, RN, CCRN-K, Vice President of the Alpha Beta Chi Chapter, and Dr. Christine Mihal, Dean for the School of Nursing as well as numerous nursing faculty members.
