Richard McGarry, Deacon Assistant Professor of Religious Studies

Deacon McGarry was born and lived in Scotland and lived there for 12 years. He immigrated to the United States in 1957, where he became a citizen in 1968.    Deacon McGarry has over 30 years experience in the areas of religious education, and ministry as a permanent deacon.  I worked for over 30 years in Pharmaceutical sales and marketing before changing careers to religious education in 2000.   He taught on a high school level for 8 years before joining the Religious Studies department in 2008.  He and his wife have been married for 45 year and have 2 children and 3 granddaughters.   His ministerial duties include religious education, serving at Masses,  homilies, Baptisms and funeral services.   My interests include volunteer work with the Cadets drum and bugle corps, film studies, photography,  music, and the study of religions.
