8th Annual Ethics Conference
The Felician Institute for Ethics and Public Affairs is hosting the Eighth Annual Conference on Saturday, April 26 on the College’s Rutherford campus. Felician faculty and guest presenters from 20 colleges and universities will address a variety of issues.
Registration begins 8:45 a.m. in the lobby of Martin Hall and continental breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. There is a $20 registration fee payable at the door (cash or check), $10 fee for graduate students (with student ID). There is no registration fee for members of the Felician College community.
The first morning session is scheduled for 9:30-11 a.m. Topics include Deontology; Particularism and Situationism; Aristotelian Themes; and Religious Ethics.
The second morning session will run from 11:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Topics include Moral Epistemology; Happiness and Well-Being; Kantian Themes; and Virtue Ethics.
After a break for lunch, the plenary session will be held in the Main Auditorium of Sammartino Hall. Guest speaker Professor Macalester Bell of Columbia University will offer a presentation entitled “Honor, Respect, and Contempt.”
The afternoon session will include discussions on Moral Epistemology; Hypocrisy and Moral Weakness; and Natural Law/Medieval Ethics.
